Adding fish oil to your diet has profound health benefits.

Fish oil has been increasingly gaining more popularity recently, and in turn receiving much more scientific research these days. This a good thing! While there are numerous benefits to adding fish oil supplementation into your lifestyle, we want to concentrate on the heart-healthy benefits of this nutritional powerhouse.

Luckily for us, fish oil is far and wide most likely the best supplement you can choose to add to your cupboard (of course eating a diet rich in fish is great, too!). Read this article to find out the truth about fish oil supplements

Recently there was a study that claimed fish oil supplments caused prostate cancer in men. It claimed:

This study confirms previous reports of increased prostate cancer risk among men with high blood concentrations of LCω-3PUFA.

I’m sure your eyebrows are already furrowed, and the skepticism is flying high. Well, you’re damn right to react like that, before even getting into the information. And note, I say information loosely.

This study is completely whack! The numbers and the so-called statistics, that the so-called scientists, in this so-called study, used, are beyond weak. But who doesn’t love a good media frenzy and something else to knock on in the supplement industry?

The premise of this study is that the scientists claim that eating fish oil (omega-3) supplements are hazardous. The study does not discuss nor mention the consequences of eating a high fish diet, particularly salmon, but rather focuses solely on the use of the capsules. Ya know, since they’re pills, they muuuuust be bad. Bullshit!

Supplements are great, but don’t make the mistake of thinking they will replace real, nutritious foods!

There are tons of supplements on the market; some great, some complete shit. It can get kind of tedious deciding which supplements to take and which ones are a waste of money, so I am going to run down briefly some of the best supplements men should be taking. There will surely be differing schools of thought on this, but this list will incorporate what I think are the best supplements athlete men should be consuming:

  • Multivitamin – Vitamins and minerals you don’t always get from food.
  • Ginseng – Good for your heart and good for your manhood.
  • Fish Oil – Essential fatty acids. Good for your heart, good for your brain, good for cholesterol.
  • Glucosamine / Chondroitin / MSM – Good for joints and connective issue.
  • Creatine – Replenishment of ATP, delays muscle fatigue, increases pump.
  • Protein Supplements – Muscle recovery, reduced soreness. The essential building blocks for lean tissue.
  • BCAAs – Essential amino acids, improve muscle growth, improve recovery and healing.
  • Antioxidants – Keeps you healthy and may induce fat loss.
  • Test Boosters (natural) – Increases natural test levels, keeps body fat low, great state of mind.
