This list will cover all the essential amino acids (‘essential’ meaning amino acids which cannot be produced by the body), as well as the branched chain amino acids, which are part of this list.

Again, Gone Liftin’ has an article on Branched Chain Amino Acids, but this will list them again, and try and give some more info about them and their functions. Continue Reading…

A list of the very best BCAA supplements on the market.

Recently, Gone Liftin’ put out an article detailing the importance and benefits of BCAAs.

… not only are BCAAs essential to human health, but they are also amazing for muscle growth, and ALSO sparing you from catabolic effects when on a calorie restricted diet

There are a ton of BCAA supplements on the market, so let’s discuss some of the best BCAA worth your hard-earned money.

BCAAs come in powder form or pill form. We prefer intaking BCAAs in powder form. They mix easily with water and absorb faster, so it’s pretty much a no-brainer. BCAA supplementation will aid in maximizing fat loss and preventing your muscles from breaking down.

BCAA supplementation will aid in maximizing fat loss and preventing your muscles from breaking down.

Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, which are the building block of muscle.

We’re going to talk about branched chain amino acids – also known as BCAAs. BCAAs are part of the 9 essential amino acids, but these 3 guys metabolize in muscle tissue rather than the liver, so they certainly aid in muscular development quite nicely.

First, let me start off by saying that not only are BCAAs essential to human health, but they are also amazing for muscle growth, and ALSO sparing you from catabolic effects when on a calorie restricted diet, as this article from BodyBuilding.com will tell you.

Dieting down will get you shredded, but it might also shave some size from your biceps. BCAAs can help protect your muscles against the catabolic effects of dieting!

What Are the 3 BCAAs?

Let’s list the BCAAs. First, there is Leucine. Next in line, we have Isoleucine. And last, but certainly not least, we have Valine.

BCAAs kind of fell off in the bodybuilding world, but have recently made a strong resurgence! Continue Reading…

Supplements

Supplements are great, but don’t make the mistake of thinking they will replace real, nutritious foods!

There are tons of supplements on the market; some great, some complete shit. It can get kind of tedious deciding which supplements to take and which ones are a waste of money, so I am going to run down briefly some of the best supplements men should be taking. There will surely be differing schools of thought on this, but this list will incorporate what I think are the best supplements athlete men should be consuming:

  • Multivitamin – Vitamins and minerals you don’t always get from food.
  • Ginseng – Good for your heart and good for your manhood.
  • Fish Oil – Essential fatty acids. Good for your heart, good for your brain, good for cholesterol.
  • Glucosamine / Chondroitin / MSM – Good for joints and connective issue.
  • Creatine – Replenishment of ATP, delays muscle fatigue, increases pump.
  • Protein Supplements – Muscle recovery, reduced soreness. The essential building blocks for lean tissue.
  • BCAAs – Essential amino acids, improve muscle growth, improve recovery and healing.
  • Antioxidants – Keeps you healthy and may induce fat loss.
  • Test Boosters (natural) – Increases natural test levels, keeps body fat low, great state of mind.
  • Ginkgo Biloba – Cognitive function, blood flow and vascularity.
  • Horny Goat Weed – Too awesome and too much to write a short description – Click the link!

Keep in mind: Supplements are just that – supplemental. Nothing will replace a good nutritious diet and a hard workout program. In a perfect world, supplements are technically not necessary. But a perfect world is hard to attain for most of us, which is why the supplement industry is so successful. I say, get some of these supplements and incorporate them into a healthy diet and workout program, and you will reap the benefits!
