Ever hear of maca? If you haven’t, we offer our deepest condolences. Maca is a true superfood and a nutritional powerhouse that is provided to humans from our mother – Mother Nature! The nutritional powers of maca are somewhat magical, and it is a great feat that we were able to find this root, and extract it to provide some of the very best enhancements that any supplement on planet Earth can provide us. Maca, also known by its scientific name – Lepidium meyenii – is a plant that is located primarily in the high altitudes of Peru – the Andes Mountains to be exact. Maca is PACKED with vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, proteins, phytonutrients, and more! Maca has been around for quite some time, but in more recent times has it gained such popularity. And for damn good reason, too!!
Maca has long been the Superfood of the Incas. Since the Incas were prominent in those regions, they made use of the maca plant and put it to good use! Maca has has been used by the Incans as a primary dietary staple for thousands of years. In the opinion of Gone Liftin’, it is quite an understatement to refer to maca as a Superfood, as it is much more than that…
Maca is generally found in powdered form, extracted from the root of the Lepidium meyenii plant. Maca has sooooo many health benefits, we don’t know where to begin!
Maca is rich in many vitamins. Proteins are also prominent in this herb. Vitamin B12 is a the key vitamin found in maca. It also happens to keep you mega healthy by containing Vitamins B1 and B2. Vitamin C and Vitamin E are also abundant in maca. Let’s not forget about the minerals – large traces of zinc, magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, and even amino acids!!

Noawadays, you would be hard pressed to NOT see maca as an ingredient in any Testosterone boosters and / or Libido enhancers. Maca is beneficial for both men and women, as it highly increases not only your libido, but also increases endurance, allowing the “good times” to prolong! Maca also balances your hormones and increases fertility, especially in women.
3. Women’s Health and Mood
When it comes to menopause and general female menstrual issues, maca quickly becomes a good friend to the ladies! Some inconclusive studies have also shown maca to assist in battling depression. It is said, however, that pregnant and / or lactating women should avoid taking maca. Why this is, we do not know exactly, but practitioners advise women to do so, as there is not conclusive enough evidence that maca is healthy for an unborn embryo, or not…
