More often than not, when someone undergoes the urge to change the way they look, along with their lifestyle, an elitist mentality is usually incorporated. That basically means, “I’m going to do this and no temptation can stop me. I will do whatever it takes.”
That’s fantastic for those that have no problems sticking to their convictions, but, let’s face it, not everyone has this trait.
Sometimes, going all out 100% is not an option.
That is no excuse, however, to do 100% of nothing. Start with changing just one small thing that you know can keep up with, and go from there. Doesn’t even matter what that thing is, just as long as you turn a bad habit into a good one.
Add a walk to your routine. Add a couple days of gym time. Remove certain unhealthy foods from your diet. Remove sugar. Take a cycling class twice a week. Whatever you want to change that you think will better your body composition, change it now!
Twice per year, my team of coaches and I take on groups of male and female coaching clients. From training, to nutrition, to supplementation – it’s all covered – as our clients go through a complete, life-changing body transformation. And, at the end of it all, $250,000 in prize money is awarded to the clients who achieve the very best results.
As we’ve been running this program for 6 years now, and coached over 20,000 people, we’ve learned a lot of important lessons about how real, life-long body transformations are actually achieved. Sure, some of the lessons are pretty straight-forward. However, several of them are surprising and counterintuitive.
So, as you go through this article, keep an open mind. Read each lesson all the way through, and ask yourself honestly: “how many of these am I actually doing?” If you really want to transform your body, then at the end, I suggest you pick one lesson and start using it right away.
Change Just One Habit to Build Your Willpower Muscle
Though the article has certain lesson outlines and examples, changing just one habit can be done all on your own.
Very few people can do everything at once. Especially with changing your body composition, people do indeed tend to bite off more than they can chew. You don’t need to have an elitist (not right now, anyway), all-or-nothing, kind of mentality when it comes to changing your body and dietary habits.
Start small, and build from there.
First and foremost, figure out exactly what you want to do. Then realize which poor habits of yours keep you from your goals. Start by changing or removing just one. Just one! That’s all it takes.
Once you get the wheels in motion, you will start seeing changes, and then you can start changing additional habits. Before you know it, your lifestyle will be totally different, and it will becomes second nature!
